Following on from our successful day with special guests The Woodee last August, we're very pleased to say that we're doing another event with them again. On Bank Holiday Monday 28th May, the Woodee will be here demonstrating their fire pits and showing just how easy it is to cook on them.
11.00 - ’How to make the most of the bedding plants in your baskets and containers’. Michele will be demonstrating how to extend the life of your plants and ensure they give you pleasure for the whole of the summer. She’ll be looking at feeding, watering, deadheading and trimming back unruly plants.
11.30 - The Woodee Team will start the ‘Big Cookout’. Firing up three Woodee Fire Pits, they will start by showing you how to spatchcock a chicken over a wood fire and steam trout in wet newspaper over charcoal. While your mouth is watering, they will cook a traditional full English Breakfast with American pancakes, followed by a Madley Herb Omelette...
12.30 - A chance for the children to get their hands dirty, including sowing veg seeds and learning how to plant peas up a support. There will be a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Madley Plants allotment and a walk through the main growing tunnel demonstrating just how Simon and Michele pot up 20 odd thousand plants each Spring.
13.00 - Team Woodee give you some great ideas for feeding the children outdoors. They will be cooking up a local sausage hash, followed by scotch pancakes, baked apples, chocolate bananas and brazed fruits. Of course it wouldn’t be a proper cookout without marshmallows and s’mores! Come along, bring the family, there will be plenty of tasters throughout the day.
Phew, it'll be a busy and fun day so please do come along. To ease congestion in the car park here, perhaps If you live in Madley you might be able to walk down, or if you do need to bring a car, we have permission from Madley Primary School to use their car park. From there it's just a few minutes walk to the nursery. Thanks for your help with this, we appreciate your co-operation 😁
